A 53-second quarter with an 18:13 cross country base behind it. That combination — speed reserve over real mileage — is what a 1:58 becomes when a junior keeps training.
Christian didn't grow up a prodigy. He showed up as a freshman with a 20:31 cross country seed time and started stacking seasons. By the fall of his sophomore year that 5K was 18:13.10 — two minutes and change gone, and an 11th-place finish at the District 18-6A meet.
Then came the track. Sophomore spring: 53.79 in the 400m at the HISD District Meet. Then the 800m postseason ladder — 2:00.54 early season, 1:58.91 to qualify out of the Area 17 & 18 meet, and 1:58.23 at the UIL 6A Region III Championships. A leg on Heights' 8:17.44 4×800m relay at the Quinn Wood Relays — on the same baton line as his older brother Nicholas, the 2026 Texas 6A state champion. MileSplit put him on the 2026 Houston All-City All-Sophomore team.
Three years in the sport. That isn't a finished product — it's a curve, and it's pointing the right direction. Coaches who recruit juniors recruit exactly this: verified times, real range, and a trajectory with room left on it.
And the program around him wins. Heights track are three-time district champions in the program's current run — Christian has been part of two of those three title teams. He knows what a championship room looks like, because he trains in one.

The IB diploma track doesn't leave room for passengers — and neither does a two-lap race. Christian carries a full IB course load at Houston Heights alongside two sports seasons a year and a chair in the band. Eligibility will never be the question. Time management is already the answer.
Christian plays trumpet in the Houston Heights High School band — an award-winning program and one of the top bands in the city. Rehearsals before school. Marching season in the fall, on top of cross country. Concert season in the spring, on top of track.
It reads like a scheduling conflict. It isn't. It's a kid who holds a chair in two programs that both demand precision under pressure — and shows up to both. Breath control, pacing, composure when the stadium is loud. The horn and the 800m ask for the same things.
